This Privacy Policy explains how Animail AI Messenger ("Animail", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects your information when you use the Animail mobile application (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described below. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Information you provide
• Account information: name, phone number, email address, profile photo, and any optional profile details you choose to add.
• Messages and content: text messages, voice messages, photos, videos, files, and reactions you send or receive within the App.
• Contacts: with your permission, contact entries from your device address book used to help you find other Animail users.
• Customer support: information you provide when you contact us for support or feedback.
Information collected automatically
• Device and usage data: device model, operating system version, App version, language, time zone, and crash logs.
• Diagnostics: performance metrics and error reports used to keep the App stable.
• Identifiers: a randomly generated installation identifier and, where applicable, your Apple ID for receipt validation.
Information we do not collect
• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not use third-party advertising trackers in the App.
• We do not access the content of your device photo library beyond images and videos you explicitly select or capture for use in the App.
2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
• To operate and provide messaging, calling, calendar, reminders, and related features.
• To create and manage your account and authenticate you on your devices.
• To deliver messages, media, and notifications to recipients you choose.
• To process subscriptions, in-app purchases, and receipt validation through Apple.
• To diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and improve performance and reliability.
• To communicate service announcements, security alerts, and support responses.
• To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
3. HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION
We share information only as needed to provide the App or as required by law:
• Other users: messages, media, reactions, online status, read receipts, typing indicators, and profile photo are shared with the users you communicate with, subject to the visibility controls you set in Settings > Privacy.
• Service providers: cloud hosting, push-notification delivery (Apple Push Notification service), crash reporting, and analytics providers acting on our behalf under written contracts.
• Apple: for subscription processing, receipt validation, and App Store services.
• Legal: when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Animail, our users, or others.
• Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you where required.
4. DEVICE PERMISSIONS
Animail requests the following permissions only when needed for the relevant feature. You can change permissions any time in iOS Settings > Animail:
• Camera: take photos and videos, scan QR codes, and use the in-app camera.
• Microphone: record voice messages and place voice calls.
• Photos: attach existing photos and videos to messages.
• Contacts: match your contacts with other Animail users.
• Notifications: deliver message and call alerts.
• Location (optional): share a location in a message, only when you explicitly choose to.
5. SUBSCRIPTIONS AND PAYMENTS
Animail may offer auto-renewable subscriptions. All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details. Subscription titles, prices, durations, and renewal terms are displayed inside the App at the point of purchase and are governed by Apple's Standard End User License Agreement and Apple's subscription terms. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in iOS Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions.
6. DATA RETENTION AND DELETION
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. Messages are stored on our servers only as long as needed to deliver them to recipients. You can:
• Delete individual messages or conversations from within the App.
• Delete your account from Settings > Account > Delete Account, which removes your profile and associated personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (for example, financial records).
7. SECURITY
We use industry-standard technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit (TLS), encrypted storage for sensitive fields, and access controls, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Animail is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
9. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS
Animail is operated from Australia. If you use the App from outside Australia, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in Australia or other countries where our service providers operate. We take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.
10. YOUR RIGHTS
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal information, and to data portability. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or California, you also have rights under the GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA respectively, including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
If you are in Australia, this Privacy Policy is intended to comply with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). You may also lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
11. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version in the App and on this page, and update the "Last updated" date above. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice (for example, an in-app notification).
